x-2011-2012 Action Plan Format-Roles and responsibilitiesReflection of this process
PROS: Wixie was an easy and accessible tool to use with first graders. The library of pictures had lots of options and the children were able to access them with ease.
CONS: We had issues with Wixie changing their domain name but once that was resolved it made life easier.
The one minute voice recording limit is a big disadvantage.

    Considerations
Consult the best practices in blogging page for a complete run-down on blogging best practices, however, when blogging with Grade 4 students it is important also to consider these finer points.
Blogger requires a few settings to be enabled so that students do not need to log in to post comments. Please see your Tech Coordinator or IT Department for details.

    Blogs - 2010-2011
Students in Grade 4 begin blogging as commenters on teachers posts for the migrations unit. The teacher sets up the blog in My Teacher Pages and provides a link to the blog on the class page. Teachers post stories about immigration events that members of the community offer to share. Students read the stories and post comments.
Another type of blogging occurs in the students' literature circles. In this scenario, students have access to 1 of 4 different blogs, each dedicated a particular book. Blogger has been used for this, but it will most likely migrate to Edublogs due to new security regulations and issues with signups. Students use the comment feature to reply to teacher posts on the material being read.

when considering a timeline, i would suggest a semester to get from start to finish. I would also wait for the second semester to start this up. When i started working with students at the start of the year, I found that i had to spend a lot of time front loading students with the tools that they need to run these programs. If however, I had to wait for the second semester, i would have been doing it at the same time as the other teachers and the load of teaching students what to do would not all fal on one person.

ECECThe role of a teacher as a guiding facilitator in technology is very important. A teacher needs to explore and constantly update her knowledge of new apps or apps that absolutely work. He/She also needs to plan/integrate iPads within the curriculum and be open to changes.

SMART Goals and Objectives (over-arching purpose)
In ECEC technology can be used to enhance differentiation in the classroom. The I-pad as a tool provides engaging and student-centered learning programs where children are able to be autonomous in making choices about their learning. We believe that this digital tool will improve student motivation by personalizing learning through access to a wide variety of content and processes in their learning cycle. It also caters to various learning styles like visual, kinesthetic and auditory and many areas of Multiple Intelligence like spatial, musical etc.
    Strategies, Tools and ResourcesStrategies
    1. Strategies- Total iPads 6, used in 1:1 in small centers of 6 children each. This is when it is a planned activity and the children are given a specific choice of 2 or 3 apps that they can choose to support their learning. The small groups rotate giving every child an oppurtunity to work with an iPad.
    2. The other strategy for children to expore iPads is during freeplay/choice time in the morning where they can choose if they want an iPad and work in a 1:2 ratio. The teacher at all times is moving the group around giving all children who want the iPad and oppurtunity to work with one.
This will also provide differentiated levels to our students to access so that they can practice skills at their level.
